He is one of India's most renowned scientists who won the Nobel Prize.<br>His father taught mathematics and physics, which encouraged Raman to pursue a career in science.<br>Raman continued his studies at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) in Calcutta while he was a professor at the University of Calcutta.<br>Raman conducted a groundbreaking experiment at the IACS that ultimately led to his being awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics on February 28 of 1930. By observing the dispersion of light, which became known as the Raman Effect, he found the proof of the quantum nature of light. In India, the day is recognized as National Science Day.<br><br></p><span></div>
